Welcome to the future
Priority MRI utilizes the most advanced MRI technology available and the most sophisticated in clinical use in the province. Our General Electric Signa HDxt 3T 32 channel machine offers unsurpassed performance in speed, precision and accuracy allowing our technologists and radiologists to obtain and evaluate the best images possible of your body. This allows for improved diagnostic accuracy and confidence.

Exam Types
Priority MRI utilizes the most advanced MRI technology available and the most sophisticated in clinical use in the province.
Bones and Joints
MRI has excellent ability to check for problems of bones and joints anywhere in the body. This includes large joints (such as knees and shoulders) all the way to small joints (such as fingers/toes and temperomandibular joints (TMJs)). It can clearly depict structures such as cartilage, ligaments and tendons. – structures which are not often well seen on other types of scans. It is ideally suited for evaluation of sports injuries, arthritis, infection and tumours. The 3T technology can see small structures with greater clarity than conventional 1.5T machines, sometimes even allowing one to forego requiring injected contrast agent in the joint to see it well.
Head / Neck / Spine
Within the head and neck, MRI has excellent ability to detect conditions such as tumours, aneurysms, bleeding, stroke, injuries from trauma and nerve conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS). Within the spine, MRI can clearly delineate conditions such as tumours, disc herniations and spinal stenosis. The 3T technology can see small structures with greater clarity than conventional 1.5T machines.
Abdomen / Pelvis
MRI is one of the most sensitive methods to detect and characterize problems of the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, spleen, pancreas, kidneys and adrenal glands. In the female pelvis, MRI has an excellent ability to assess the uterus and ovaries. In the male pelvis, it is especially well suited to assess the prostate gland. The 3T technology evaluation of the prostate gland is rapidly becoming the most sensitive picture assessment of this body part. This prostate imaging can be performed without the use of an uncomfortable sensor in the rectum, often required for examination with conventional 1.5T scanners.
Blood Vessels
MRI can assess the blood vessels of the body, sometimes without the need for an injection of contrast agent. The 3T technology can assess with much greater detail the blood vessels allowing diagnosis of disorders of these structures which was previously not possible with conventional 1.5T machines. The increased speed of the images that can be captured allows greater detail to seen, allowing a more confident assessment.
